Ravelympics.......................................
Yes it's just a few days to go to the start of the Ravleympics 2008 and I will be competing for Teamsocktopus.
So what are the Ravelympics?
Your challenge should you choose to accept it, is to start and finish a project during the 2008 Olympic Summer Games.
Official Start: 8pm Opening Ceremonies, Beijing time
Official End: 11:59 pm, apx. end of Closing Ceremonies, Beijing time
Basically cast on for your chosen event during the opening ceremony and make sure you have completed knitting your item by the end of the closing ceremony. Pictures of your finished item must appear up on the Finishers line thread and your project page on Ravelry. Should be great fun.
What do You Get?
All Ravthletes will get a “I did It! Ravelympic ‘08” badge, or something along those lines. Finishers get a badge for their blog. Medals are presented on the Podium by our fearless leader, Caesar Augustus Bobicus.
Caesar Augustus Bobicus, our Master of Ceremonies of the First International Ravelympic Games, Summer 2008
I will just be competing in one event this year due to wrestling with WIPs.
I shall be taking part in the Baby Dressage.
That will mean knitting up this little fleece artist kit.......
......so that's a hat, sweater and little bootees all to be completed during the period of the games.
So watch this space and see if I get to go up to the Podium.

Oh baby, baby..................................
Ok there have been a lot of births this year to both family, friends and colleagues so Baby knitting has been high on the agenda throughout the year. I have to say I love it and having something small and quick on the needles is a delight. The problem is not being able to post until I have given the gifts so that it doesn't spoil the suprise.
Recent knits include the Cabled Cashmere blanket.......

I have also bought the following kit to knit up for a friends little boy....

It's knitted in a lovely green and blue Sea wool, the same yarn I knitted the SeaVines Vest in back at Easter. This is going to be a holiday knit and part of my enrty to the Ravalympics as part of Team Socktopus. More details once I have cast on at the opening ceremony.
I also have a little short sleeved pink cardi cast on but I haven't got any pictures of that yet. I have already completed the back and need to whip up the two fronts at knitting group on Sunday evening.

I blocked..................
I blocked, I blocked, yes I really blocked.

Yes I finally had a go at proper blocking. I finished this SeaVines Vest when I was on holiday in Turkey just after Easter but have put off blocking it because I will be totally honest I didn't know what I was doing. I am so in love with it. It has come out so well and I am converted. All I need now is the proper blocking mats, wires, and pins. You may notice that I have used my ironing board and my ever trusty iron is lurking in the background in case it was a total disaster and I had to revert back to my previous method. One iron and a damp towel!

Note: This was a kit from my sister for my birthday bought at Purlescence and is Fleeceartist Sea wool. The colour is Beet.
