Drying socks..........................

DSC01080

OK so how else am I supposed to get seven pairs of handknit socks that have just been handwashed dry. Ok Handwash cycle on the machine but when it is raining I have no way to dry them. I was quite amused at the site of them all lined up along the bath. Anyone have any ingenious ways for drying socks in this typical british weather? When its bright and sunny they go out on the whirly gig thing. But when its wet its a buggar.

Not having a tumble dryer, all my washing - handwash or not - gets draped over the clothes airer and sat right in front of the radiator. Dries pretty fast - and in my experience socks are perfickly happy to be hung straight onto the radiator if you're running low of space on the airers!

Spring and autumn are the buggers, though. In summer the sun does the work, in winter central heating helps out, but in those in-between seasons, stuff takes aaaages to dry and always ends up with that yucky damp smell. :-(

All our radiators seem to have major pieces of furniture in front of them so not too accessible for drying stuff. The one is Cam's room is the only one I can get to easily. I need to get one of those racks from Lakeland so I can dry stuff (wollens) flat over the bath.

I just dried a pair of socks in the airing cupboard overnight on the towels! I love seeing yours all lined up...makes me think that I need to make some more socks for me!

I've got a Lazy Susan from www.castinstyle.co.uk & it's fitted above the stairs. All our washing is hung up there & it uses the wasted heat as it rises to the ceiling & isn't in the way at all.

Best of all apart from the purchase price it's FREE!!!
